While I have no way of knowing what shmitz originally intended in his mod's ending, I feel that I have given Jenka's Nightmare the care and dedication it deserved. Many maps were given a layout makeover, and many new maps were added to help finish the story being told.

In my own efforts to complete Jenka's Nightmare, I decided on one very key factor: to redesign the mod from the ground-up. The King of the Land feared that Jenka's brother, Ballos. Hundreds of years prior to the events of the game, Jenka and Ballos were citizens of a distant kingdom on the Surface, where they used their magic to help those in need. In Cave Story, she sends the player on a mission to find and bring back her five puppies. This, accompanied by the original Jenka's Nightmare's many flaws in game balance and difficulty zig-zags, left a very sour taste in my mouth. Jenka ( Jenka) is an elderly witch who resides in the Sand Zone. Various examples are: Jenkas Nightmare, WTF Story, The Show, Shism. Cave Story, originally released as Dkutsu Monogatari, is a 2004 Metroidvania platform-adventure game for Microsoft Windows. Many other modders tried adding their own ideas for endings onto the existing mod, but most of these endings felt tacked on, and only truly there to make the statement that the mod was finished, rather than 'complete'. The secret level in Cave Story stole my soul, but I got it back when I won. With rose-tinted glasses, many people consider it to be the best mod ever created, in spite of its flaws.Īs the years went by, there was enough of a hole left by Jenka's Nightmare's incompletion. The original Jenka's Nightmare was by no means perfect, but it was endearing to see so much effort put into a game that felt like a sequel to the actual Cave Story. Jenkas Nightmare is a mod for Cave Story, created by ZarroTsu. shmitz had originally hoped to create custom enemies and bosses for the latter half of his story, but these ideas fell short and he quietly left the scene. At some point the playlist was listed as 'you know' as a placeholder. At 0:06, the melody changes to the opening theme of Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends. Unfortunately, shmitz's aspirations were set rather high, and he was unable to push himself to complete the mod due to the limitations there are in modding Cave Story. 'Jenka 1 (Gamma Mix) - Cave Story' is a high quality rip of the Gamma Mix of 'Jenka 1' from Cave Story.
